These allow you and your shared users to quickly filter the data used in the analyses and reports. It also covers how to hide reports and analyses so they cannot be seen on\u00a0Snap XMP Online. This is only available for online surveys created in Snap XMP Desktop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"post-7474-o32754\"><\/a>Step 1: Creating the filters to use in Snap XMP Online<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a id=\"post-7474-o32780\"><\/a>   The external filters and contexts are defined from the Analyses or Reports windows. Once defined, the\u00a0filter\u00a0or context can be applied to reports and analyses in Snap XMP Desktop and Snap XMP Online.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>   Click\u00a0<strong>Analyses<\/strong>    <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-7475\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/word-image-2.png\">   or <strong>Reports<\/strong>\u00a0    <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-7476\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/word-image-3.png\">   on the Snap XMP Desktop toolbar.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Click on&nbsp;<strong>Define&nbsp;External&nbsp;Filter\/Context<\/strong>&nbsp; \n  <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"24\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/word-image-4.png\" class=\"wp-image-7477\">\n  . This opens the Define External Filter\/Context dialog. \n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Select the <strong>Filter<\/strong> tab to enter a filter or the <strong>Context<\/strong> tab to enter a context. \n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Click<strong>&nbsp;Add<\/strong>&nbsp;to add a new&nbsp;filter&nbsp;or context variable to the list. Select from the list of variables in the selected survey and click <strong>OK<\/strong>.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"386\" height=\"394\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/word-image-5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7478\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/word-image-5.png 386w, https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/word-image-5-294x300.png 294w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 386px) 100vw, 386px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"5\">\n<li>\n  Use&nbsp;<strong>Move Up<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Move Down<\/strong>&nbsp;to change the order of the list. \n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Click <strong>OK<\/strong> to save the filters. \n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Checking the filter in Snap XMP Desktop<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>   External\u00a0filters\u00a0or contexts allow you to\u00a0filter\u00a0the cases used in an analysis or report without changing the analysis or report definition. This is useful for testing the filters available in\u00a0Snap XMP Online.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>   Click\u00a0<strong>Analyses<\/strong>    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-7479\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/word-image-6.png\">   on the Snap XMP Desktop toolbar.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Double click on an analysis to display it in the Analysis Display dialog. \n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Click on&nbsp;<strong>Apply&nbsp;External&nbsp;Filter\/Context<\/strong>&nbsp; \n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"24\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/word-image-7.png\" class=\"wp-image-7480\">\n  . This opens the <strong>Apply External Filter\/Context<\/strong> dialog. If this is disabled, then select <strong>Allow additional filters<\/strong> on the&nbsp;Analysis Definition&nbsp;dialog. \n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  In the <strong>Apply External Filter\/Context<\/strong> dialog, select the <strong>Filter<\/strong> or <strong>Context<\/strong> tab. \n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Select the code(s) in the selected variable(s) in the list to&nbsp;apply&nbsp;a&nbsp;filter or context. In this example, the location <strong>Bristol UK<\/strong> is selected.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"386\" height=\"394\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/word-image-8.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7481\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/word-image-8.png 386w, https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/word-image-8-294x300.png 294w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 386px) 100vw, 386px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"6\">\n<li>\n  If you have applied a mask to the&nbsp;filter, the&nbsp;filter&nbsp;codes displayed will depend on the mask settings.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Click<strong> OK<\/strong> to apply the filters to the analysis. This will show the data responses filtered for the Bristol location.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"post-7474-o32759\"><\/a>Step 3: Using the filters in Snap XMP Online<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  Any analyses or reports that include external filters can use these to view a filtered subset of the response data. To apply a filter to an analyses, use the following instructions:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>   In Snap XMP Online, select the survey from Your work. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  In the&nbsp;<strong>Summary<\/strong>&nbsp;tab, click the&nbsp;<strong>Analyze<\/strong>&nbsp;link. You can also control whether they can see an individual analysis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>   In Snap XMP Desktop, open your survey and click <strong>Analyses<\/strong>    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-7487\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/word-image-10.png\">    to open the\u00a0<strong>Analyses\u00a0<\/strong>window. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Open the analysis that you want to control and click <strong>Properties<\/strong>&nbsp;\n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/word-image-11.png\" class=\"wp-image-7488\">\n  &nbsp;on the Analysis Display toolbar to display the analysis definition.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   In the <strong>Definition<\/strong> tab, select\u00a0<strong>Allow additional filters<\/strong>\u00a0to enable filters for this analysis in Snap XMP Online.
