In Snap XMP, you can create reports and analyses in your survey that change according to who is looking at them in Snap XMP Online. This is done by creating the reports and analyses with a context in Snap XMP Desktop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When you share the survey with an analyst or researcher in Snap XMP Online, you can also set the context for that user. The report or analysis available to the shared user is tailored according to the context. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n The survey needs to include a single-response variable that can be used as the context. For example, this could be a location or a job function.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The reports or analyses are created using information that changes according to the context, that is filtered according to the context or both. In Snap XMP Online, you can share the survey with another user with any context or filter values set on the survey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Step 1: Create context-sensitive reports and analyses in your survey<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
You need to put context-sensitive information in your reports and analyses. If you want to set up the report in your own version of Crocodile Rock Cafe survey, the instructions are given below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n This section describes briefly how to change the Crocodile Rock Cafe survey provided with Snap XMP to create the context sensitive report. It consists of the following stages\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n
1: Set up a derived variable to compare all data to the current context data <\/li>\n\n\n\n
2: Create a bar chart comparing the amount spent in the specified location with the amount spent elsewhere using the comparison variable <\/li>\n\n\n\n
3: Create a comments list filtered on context <\/li>\n\n\n\n
4: Create your report including the comparison bar chart and filtered comment list <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Set up a derived variable to compare all data to the current context data<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n
\n Click \n \n to open the Variables<\/strong> window.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Open Q0<\/strong> and change its Name<\/strong> to Location<\/strong> to make it more obvious what it is. This is the context variable. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Click \n \n on the Variables<\/strong> window toolbar to add a new variable.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Specify the Variable details<\/strong>:\n
\n
\n Name: CComparison\n <\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Label: Compare context to all\n <\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Type: Derived (the variable will derive its data from Location, the existing location question).\n <\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Double click in the first code label and click the Insert<\/strong> button. Select Variable Field<\/strong> from the menu.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n
\n Select Location<\/strong> as the Variable<\/strong>, and Context<\/strong> as the Aspect<\/strong>. This will give the selected location as the code label. Click OK<\/strong> to return to the variable definition.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n
\n Press Tab to move to the Values <\/strong>column. Enter Location=Location@context<\/strong>. The code used will be the code that equals the location specified by the context.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Press Tab to move to the next Label<\/strong> field and enter Other sites<\/strong>. Then enter NOT(Location=Location@context)<\/strong> as the Value<\/strong>. This code will be used when the response does not equal the location specified by context.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Press [Tab] to move to the next Label<\/strong> field and enter All sites<\/strong>. Then enter True<\/strong> as the Value<\/strong>.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n
\n Click \n \n to save the variable.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
Create a bar chart comparing one restaurant to the others using the comparison variable<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n
\n Click Analysis Chart <\/strong>\n \n to display the Analysis Definition<\/strong> dialog for a chart.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Select the chart style Bar Counts<\/strong> from the drop-down list.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Type CComparison<\/strong> (your derived variable) into the Analysis<\/strong> field.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Check the Transpose<\/strong> box.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Select Means & Significances<\/strong> from the Calculate<\/strong> list and enter Q5<\/strong> (the amount spent) as the variable to use.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n
\n Select the Notes\/Titles<\/strong> tab and click in the Title<\/strong> field.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n
\n Enter the title of your chart, using the Insert<\/strong> button to open the Variable field<\/strong> dialog and insert the Name aspect of Q5. Click OK and repeat to insert <\/strong>the Context aspect<\/strong> of Location<\/strong> in the title.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n
\n Clear the Chart Axis<\/strong> titles.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Select the Base\/Labels<\/strong> tab.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Clear the Reports Include<\/strong> options for Description<\/strong> and Notes<\/strong> if set.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Click Apply<\/strong> to update the chart while keeping the analysis definition displayed.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n
\n There will be no data for the title and subject as no context has been set.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Click Save \n \n to save your chart.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
Add a comments list filtered on context<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n
\n Click \n \n to create a list. The picture below shows a list consisting of the variable (Q9<\/strong>) with comments plus the displayed location.\n \n Apply a filter of Q9 ok and Location=Location@context<\/strong> to filter the comments according to the current location. Q9 ok<\/strong> tests that an answer has been supplied to Q9<\/strong> to strip out empty comments. Location=Location@context<\/strong> filters the comments according to the selected location.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n
\n Select the Base\/Labels<\/strong> tab and clear the Reports Include<\/strong> options for Description<\/strong> and Notes<\/strong> if set.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Click OK<\/strong> to create the new list. It will have no content as no context has been set.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Click Save \n \n to save your list.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
Create your report including the comparison bar chart and filtered comment list<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n
Click\u00a0 \u00a0on the Snap XMP Desktop toolbar to open the reports window. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Click \n \n to create a new report and give it a label describing it.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Click \n \n on the report dialog and select Information<\/strong> to add a piece of text to your report.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Enter the title for your report in the text pane. Leave the Title<\/strong> field blank.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Click OK<\/strong> to add the Information<\/strong> instruction to the report.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Click \n \n on the report dialog and select Execute<\/strong>.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Click on the Execute<\/strong> dialog and select the comparison chart (AN14) from the list.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Click OK<\/strong> to add the Execute<\/strong> instruction to the report.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Click \n \n on the report dialog and select Information<\/strong> to add text after the comparison chart.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Enter some text describing the comments list. Use Insert<\/strong> to insert the Context Aspect<\/strong> of the Location<\/strong> variable to insert the label of the current location.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Type AN18 empty<\/strong> in the N\/A<\/strong> field. This tests if there is currently any data in the comments list (analysis AN18<\/strong>). If there is no data, the report will not include the instruction. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Click OK<\/strong> to add the Information<\/strong> instruction to the report.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Click \n \n and select Execute<\/strong> from the drop-down menu.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Select the comments list (AN18<\/strong>) from the list of analyses.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\n Click OK<\/strong> to add the Execute<\/strong> instruction to the report.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n
\n Click Save \n \n to save your report.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
Step 2: Sharing the survey with a context <\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Other Snap XMP Online users are given permission to share a survey through the Shares tab in Snap XMP Online. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n
Log in to Snap XMP Online to show Your work<\/strong>. If you are already using Snap XMP Online, click Home <\/strong>to return to Your work<\/strong>, where the Summary tab displays by default. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
Select the survey to share, then select the\u00a0Shares<\/strong>\u00a0tab, which lists the users who have shared access to the survey. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n
Click the\u00a0Add user<\/strong>\u00a0button to enter the details of the user you want to share the survey with. The user must have a Snap XMP Online account. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n
In the\u00a0Add user<\/strong>\u00a0dialog enter the user\u2019s email address that they use to access their Snap XMP Online account. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
Next set the\u00a0Permissions<\/strong>\u00a0for the user. Further information on the permissions is available at\u00a0Sharing overview<\/a>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
