The length of your online survey depends on many factors. Ideally, the length of your online&nbsp;survey is based on the number of relevant questions asked and the optimal length that will convince someone to respond. With question routing, you can ask questions based on replies, or any combination of replies given earlier in the survey.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>   Routing allows you to select which is the next question in the questionnaire based on previous answers. There are three types of routing: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Conditionally Ask Question.<\/strong> The respondent sees the question when certain conditions are met. For example, if the respondent answers a previous questions giving a particular answer.   <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Goto On Answer.<\/strong> The respondent moves through the questionnaire depending which answer they select. It\u2019s normally used to skip sections of a questionnaire according to the response to a single-response question.   <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Goto After Question.<\/strong> The respondent moves through the questionnaire after a question has been answered. It\u2019s normally used to jump irrelevant sections of a questionnaire.   <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  This worksheet describes how to set up Conditionally Ask routing so that only the appropriate elements in a grid question are displayed based on responses from previous questions and also displaying question based on responses in a grid.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Display a grid based on the response to a question<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>   In this example, a questionnaire starts with a multi-choice question asking which means of transport the respondent uses to go to work. Several sets of grid questions display depending upon the answer to the first question. For example, the grid asking about travelling to work by car only shows if the respondent answers Car (code 1). This opens the Routing Rules dialog.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  In the <strong>If<\/strong> field, enter <strong>Q1=1<\/strong>. A small arrow is added to the start of the question to show that there is routing applied to it. This can be done using in the Variable Properties. Select the grid question containing routing and click <strong>Variable Properties<\/strong> \n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/variablepropsicon-png.png\" class=\"wp-image-6993\" alt=\"VariablePropsIcon.png\">\n   to display the <strong>Variable Properties<\/strong> window. The routing condition is shown in the <strong>Not Asked<\/strong> property. \n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Copy the Not Asked property then select all the grid rows and any associated titles, sub titles or instructions. It only makes sense to ask this question if the respondent has indicated that they do find public transport inconvenient.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"909\" height=\"357\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Question3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7007\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Question3.png 909w, https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Question3-300x118.png 300w, https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Question3-768x302.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 909px) 100vw, 909px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  This means that you need to set routing on this section so it is only asked if they have selected the <strong>Strongly agree<\/strong> or <strong>Agree<\/strong> responses to the question <strong>\u2026public transport is not convenient<\/strong> (Q3.b).\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>   Select question 4, and click Routing Rules    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"27\" height=\"26\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/routingicon-png-1.png\" class=\"wp-image-6996\" alt=\"RoutingIcon.png\">   &nbsp;to open the Routing Rules dialog. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   Click<strong> Add <\/strong>to create a new routing rule with the type set to Conditionally Ask Question and click <strong>OK<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   In the <strong>If<\/strong> field, enter <strong>Q3.b=(1,2)<\/strong>. Click <strong>Variable Properties<\/strong>    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/variablepropsicon-png-3.png\" class=\"wp-image-6998\" alt=\"VariablePropsIcon.png\">    and paste the <strong>Not Asked<\/strong> property.
