Snap XMP Desktop has a range of features that you can use to customise the appearance of the word cloud. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  These features include:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\n    selecting how many items are displayed\n  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    specify the size variation between different words\n  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    choose the colours used\n  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    decide whether to categorise literals as separate words or as complete responses\n  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    create clouds from open responses or from the labels of coded responses\n  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    automatically categorise open responses using a&nbsp;stop list&nbsp;to stop common words such as \u201cand\u201d or \u201cthe\u201d being included in the word cloud\n  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a id=\"post-6289-o31626\"><\/a>\n  This worksheet shows how to create a word cloud automatically from participants\u2019 comments. It also describes how to change the number of items displayed in your word cloud and tells you how to remove words from a word cloud.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>   This worksheet uses the Crocodile Rock Cafe survey supplied with Snap XMP Desktop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"post-6289-o31635\"><\/a>Step 1: Creating a word cloud from a literal question<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  This step describes how to display comments as a word cloud by using auto coding.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>   In Survey Overview, open the\u00a0Crocodile Rock Cafe survey. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   Click <strong>Analysis Cloud<\/strong>\u00a0   <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-6290\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/analysiscloudicon-png.png\" alt=\"AnalysisCloudIcon.png\">   \u00a0on the Snap XMP Desktop toolbar. This opens the Analysis Definition window to create a cloud. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  In <strong>Analysis<\/strong>, enter Q9. This question asks the participant to give any comments about their visit.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Click&nbsp;<strong>Apply<\/strong>&nbsp;to display the word cloud. \n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"493\" height=\"411\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/wordcloud1-png.png\" alt=\"WordCloud1.PNG\" class=\"wp-image-6291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/wordcloud1-png.png 493w, https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/wordcloud1-png-300x250.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 493px) 100vw, 493px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"post-6289-o31665\"><\/a>Step 2: Changing the number of entries in your word cloud<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  If you wish to have more items in your word cloud, change the code limit.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\n  In the Analysis Definition, select the&nbsp;<strong>Auto Coding<\/strong>&nbsp;tab. This tab shows how your data will be coded. These settings may be different, depending on the tailoring defaults set up. Unless you have patterns applied to literals, you would normally use&nbsp;<strong>Words&nbsp;<\/strong>for literals and&nbsp;<strong>Values&nbsp;<\/strong>for everything else. You can adjust which words are displayed for an individual cloud by creating a new variable that you can edit then analyse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>   Click <strong>Analysis Variables<\/strong>\u00a0   <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-6294\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/analysisvariablesicon-png.png\" alt=\"AnalysisVariablesIcon.png\">   \u00a0on the Snap XMP Desktop toolbar. This opens the Analysis Variables window showing the list of analysis variables. The dialog below shows two automatically created analysis variables,\u00a0<strong>AV.Q9<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>AV.Q9.a<\/strong>. In the name,\u00a0<strong>AV\u00a0<\/strong>shows that this is an auto category variable and the next part contains the variable name it comes from. The last part makes the variable unique. The dialog shows the variables created for the two word clouds for Q9.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"517\" height=\"251\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/analyvar-png.png\" alt=\"AnalyVar.PNG\" class=\"wp-image-6295\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/analyvar-png.png 517w, https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/analyvar-png-300x146.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 517px) 100vw, 517px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\">\n<li>\n  Select the variable&nbsp;<strong>AV.Q9.a<\/strong>&nbsp;and click <strong>Clone<\/strong>&nbsp;\n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"25\" height=\"26\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/clonesurveyicon-png-1.png\" class=\"wp-image-6296\" alt=\"CloneSurveyIcon.png\">\n  &nbsp;on the toolbar to make a copy of it. This is the variable used for the twenty code word cloud. (You can find out which variable was created automatically for an analysis by using the&nbsp;<strong>Sources and<\/strong> <strong>Dependents&nbsp;<\/strong>button&nbsp;\n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"27\" height=\"25\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/sourcedependicon-png.png\" class=\"wp-image-6297\" alt=\"SourceDependIcon.PNG\">\n  &nbsp;on the&nbsp;<strong>Analysis Variables&nbsp;<\/strong>window toolbar.)\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  The new variable should open automatically. Click&nbsp;<strong>Choose codes<\/strong>\n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"25\" height=\"26\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/choosecodesicon-png.png\" class=\"wp-image-6298\" alt=\"ChooseCodesIcon.PNG\">\n  . This displays a new&nbsp;<strong>Include<\/strong>&nbsp;column. \n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"697\" height=\"468\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/autocat1-png.png\" alt=\"AutoCat1.PNG\" class=\"wp-image-6299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/autocat1-png.png 697w, https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/autocat1-png-300x201.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 697px) 100vw, 697px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"4\">\n<li>\n  The first twenty items in the list will be used in a word cloud. Clear the Include box to remove \u201cbit\u201d from the word cloud.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  If you remove \u201cbit\u201d from the list of visible items, the item at number 21 will replace it. If you do not want this item to be used clear the <strong>Include<\/strong> box next to it.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Clear <strong>Include<\/strong> for \u201c1\u201d and \u201c24\u201d. Any excluded words are added to the Stop words.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Click <strong>Stop words<\/strong> to show the excluded words. Removing a word from the list will add it to the included list again.
