Surveys that require a participant to log in have a default login page is shown at the start of the questionnaire where participants enter their log in details to complete the questionnaire. The login details include a unique login ID and optionally, a password. Using Snap XMP Desktop, the login page can be customized to include branding, images and further instructions. The password is not displayed when it is not required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prerequisites<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  Setting up a questionnaire with a login page requires\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\n    A list of participants that must include their unique ID and may include a password and other seeded data. This can be a file or database format.\n  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"post-5445-o19272\"><\/a><a id=\"post-5445-_Step_1:_Setting\"><\/a><a id=\"post-5445-_Step1:_Customizing_the\"><\/a>Step1: Customizing the login page<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  Surveys that require a participant to log in have a default login page shown as standard, which displays login and password fields. A customised version of the login page can be created to include branding and instructions.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>   In <strong>Snap XMP Desktop<\/strong>, open the <strong>Survey Overview<\/strong> window and open the required online survey. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   In the <strong>Questionnaire<\/strong> window, click on <strong>Questionnaire Properties<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   In <strong>Section<\/strong>, select the <strong>Paradata<\/strong> option.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   In <strong>System Variables<\/strong>, select <strong>Participant<\/strong> then select <strong>Display in survey<\/strong>. This adds a question at the start of the questionnaire for the participant to enter their login. To add a password field to the custom login, select <strong>Password<\/strong> then select <strong>Display in survey<\/strong>. This adds a question for the participant to enter their password. Repeat with the Password question if it is used.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  If required, you can hide the question name by selecting the name then selecting <strong>Show<\/strong> in the options list and clear the <strong>Show<\/strong> checkbox. This inserts a page break between the login page and the first question. The only questions allowed on the login page are the Participant and Password paradata questions. The questionnaire can be published in both Snap XMP Desktop and Snap XMP Online. This worksheet uses Snap XMP Desktop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\n  In the <strong>Questionnaire<\/strong> window, click <strong>Publish<\/strong> \n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/publishicon-png.png\" class=\"wp-image-5452\" alt=\"PublishIcon.png\">\n   to open the publish dialog.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  In <strong>Method<\/strong>, select <strong>Publish without preview<\/strong>.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Click <strong>Publish<\/strong> to publish the questionnaire.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>   Further information on publishing in Snap XMP Online can be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/snapxmp\/publishing-and-collecting-survey-data\/\">https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/snapxmp\/publishing-and-collecting-survey-data\/<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"post-5445-_Step_3:_Uploading\"><\/a>Step 3: Uploading participants for a logged-in survey<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>   When you have published your questionnaire you need to upload a list of participants from an Excel spreadsheet. The spreadsheet must contain a unique participant login, which may be an email address. In addition, the spreadsheet may contain a password and any data that you wish to seed into the survey. The spreadsheet must contain a data column for each survey variable that you want to seed. These instructions show how to upload the participants in Snap XMP Online. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>   Open your survey in <strong>Snap XMP Online<\/strong> and from the <strong>Summary<\/strong> tab navigate to the <strong>Collect<\/strong> section. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Select the <strong>Participants<\/strong> side menu to view the participants and invitations. The Participants <strong>Overview<\/strong> is selected by default.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Click on the <strong>Participant list<\/strong> menu item to view the participants.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"255\" height=\"242\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/particpantlist-png.png\" alt=\"Participant List menu\" class=\"wp-image-5453\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"4\">\n<li>\n  Click on <strong>Upload Participants<\/strong> to open the <strong>Upload Participants Wizard<\/strong>.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"173\" height=\"36\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/upload-participants.png\" alt=\"Upload participants\" class=\"wp-image-5454\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"5\">\n<li>\n  On the first page, click <strong>Select file<\/strong> to add the file with the participants\u2019 data. The accepted formats are CSV and XLSX. In this worksheet, only logins are used.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  To track respondents select <strong>Allow Snap Online<\/strong> <strong>to track your respondents<\/strong>.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  In <strong>Login field<\/strong>, select the spreadsheet column containing the Login for the participants. This field is required and needs to be unique as it is used to track the participant. Snap sets the default as the first column in the spreadsheet.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  If a password is used then in <strong>Password<\/strong>, select the spreadsheet column containing the password. \n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  If you are seeding data, select <strong>Seed data into questionnaire<\/strong> to allow any seeded spreadsheet data to default into the questionnaire as the participant is completing it. The next page lets you set up seeding.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Select a spreadsheet column from the <strong>Spreadsheet Column<\/strong> list then select the question to seed from the <strong>Snap&nbsp; Variable<\/strong> list\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Click <strong>Add<\/strong> which is next to the row. This adds another row below. Click <strong>OK<\/strong> when you have finished returning to the wizard.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Click <strong>Next<\/strong>. The overview summarizes the chosen settings for you to review.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Click <strong>Upload<\/strong> to upload the participants to the survey.
