{"id":4694,"date":"2021-04-19T11:58:11","date_gmt":"2021-04-19T10:58:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/?post_type=epkb_post_type_1&#038;p=4694"},"modified":"2023-02-23T11:13:13","modified_gmt":"2023-02-23T11:13:13","slug":"creating-a-read-only-question","status":"publish","type":"epkb_post_type_1","link":"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/snapxmp\/creating-a-read-only-question\/","title":{"rendered":"Creating a read only question"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>   When a question is <strong>Read only<\/strong>, the participant cannot change the answer to that question during an interview.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>   You can use the read only property for: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>     seeding the question with values from a participant database that you do not want the participant to change   <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    the question contains an initial value that is based on answers to previous questions in the survey that you do not want the participant to change\n  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  You can set a question as read only in the <strong>Variable Details<\/strong> or the <strong>Variable Properties<\/strong> windows. Note that the <strong>Read Only <\/strong>property is not available for Paradata or Note variables.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>   In the <strong>Variable Details<\/strong> window, the select the <strong>Read only<\/strong> field to set the variable as read only. Clear the <strong>Read only<\/strong> field to allow the respondent to edit the variable.
