If you choose to use consent as the basis for collecting and processing survey response data, Snap XMP allows you to provide potential participants with the relevant information that they need to give informed consent, and to configure your survey to obtain the participant\u2019s consent to proceed with the survey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  Participants choose whether to give consent by answering a specific question at the beginning of the survey.&nbsp; If they choose not to provide consent they are prevented from completing the survey.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Provide potential participants with the relevant information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>   You need to ensure that the consent that you obtain from participants is \u2018informed\u2019, meaning that participants have been given \u2018fair processing information\u2019 and have been informed of all aspects of the survey project that are relevant to their decision to participate. This is commonly done by providing potential participants with a privacy or information notice. You can present this information by including it in the instruction question type field at the start of your survey. You have the option of providing this information in a layered format by providing a summary of the essential information in the instruction question type field, followed by a link to your full privacy policy or notice for more detailed information. You are also able to include a link to the Snap Surveys\u2019 Privacy Policy; available at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/survey-software\/privacy-policy-uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/survey-software\/privacy-policy-uk\/<\/a>, for information as to how we act as your data processor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  In this worksheet example, the question and text are an example of simple wording that may be used as part of the process of gaining consent to the collection of the survey response data and processing it for the purposes of the survey itself. You can set the question and the explanation to include whatever information you as data controller consider appropriate for your survey, the type of data that you propose to collect, and the uses that you propose to make of the survey response data.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  For example, where special categories of personal data will be collected (e.g. gender and ethnicity data) and explicit consent is required, you may wish to include specific wording to make it clear that the participant is willing to provide such information. If you plan to use the response data for other purposes beyond the survey itself, you may also set multiple consent questions, to separately obtain consent for each of them.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Create a Multi Choice style consent question<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\n  Open your survey in the <strong>Questionnaire <\/strong>window and <strong>Design Mode<\/strong>\n  <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"27\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/designmodeicon-png-1.png\" class=\"wp-image-4213\" alt=\"DesignModeIcon.png\">\n  , the default, set.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Click into the first title or question field at the top of your questionnaire.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Press <strong>Enter<\/strong>&nbsp;to create a new question after this question.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Select the dropdown list on the toolbar change it to <strong>Multi Choice<\/strong>. The shape of the response box changes to a square.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Click on the question and press the key combination <strong>Ctrl + Shift + B<\/strong> to insert a page break above your new question (alternatively click the right\u2013hand button on the mouse and select Break and Page Break).\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  In the area marked <strong>Click here for text<\/strong>, enter your consent request text.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"606\" height=\"74\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/consent-png-1.png\" alt=\"Consent question and checkbox in the questionnaire\" class=\"wp-image-4214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/consent-png-1.png 606w, https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/consent-png-1-300x37.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 606px) 100vw, 606px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"7\">\n<li>\n  Add a page break between the consent question and any following question.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Set the question as a mandatory response<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\n  Ensure the consent question is selected and choose Variable Properties&nbsp;\n  <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/variablepropsicon-png-1.png\" class=\"wp-image-4216\" alt=\"VariablePropsIcon.png\">\n   from the Questionnaire window toolbar.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  In the <strong>Must Answer<\/strong> property, select <strong>Yes <\/strong>to make the question mandatory.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"284\" height=\"376\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/variable_properties-png-1.png\" alt=\"Set the selected question as mandatory\" class=\"wp-image-4217\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/variable_properties-png-1.png 284w, https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/variable_properties-png-1-227x300.png 227w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 284px) 100vw, 284px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\">\n<li>\n  Click <strong>OK <\/strong>then click <strong>Save<\/strong>\n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/saveicon-png-2.png\" class=\"wp-image-4218\" alt=\"SaveIcon.png\">\n  .\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Test the survey<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\n  Select <strong>File | Publish<\/strong> to display the <strong>Publish Questionnaire window<\/strong>.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Select <strong>Preview only <\/strong>as the <strong>Output Method<\/strong>.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Select <strong>Publish<\/strong>. The preview opens a new browser window and displays your survey as it would appear in a web browser immediately after it has been published.
