The survey uses variables that define the individuals or departments that you wish to evaluate.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  Context values allow you to select data that is relevant to that individual or department.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"post-3314-_Toc33623802\"><\/a>Steps for generating context reports<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>   Create variables for the items that will produce the individual reports. These are your context variables. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   Create any derived variables needed to analyse your context data relative to other data or a benchmark. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   Create your reports, referencing the context for each item that you want to personalise.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   Add context filters to your reports to select the appropriate data. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   Test your reports by setting the context manually. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   Set up your reports to run automatically through all the context values. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"post-3314-_Toc33623803\"><\/a>Setting up a derived variable to analyse your data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  If you wish to include some comparison charts, showing how the subject of the report compares to the average, then you cannot use a filter, as this would only use the subject data. Instead, you must create a derived variable that you can use to break down your data.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>   This example shows you how to set up a derived variable for the Crocodile Rock Cafe survey supplied with Snap XMP Desktop, allowing you to compare ratings for the current (contextualised) location with ratings for all locations. It allows comparisons between the current location and all locations (including the current) and other locations (all locations excluding the current location). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>   Open the Crocodile Rock Cafe survey supplied with Snap XMP Desktop. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   Click    <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-3315\" alt=\"VariablesIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/variablesicon-png.png\">    on the Snap toolbar to display the Variables<strong> <\/strong>window. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   Click    <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"25\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-3316\" alt=\"NewSurveyIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/newsurveyicon-png-18.png\">    on the Variables<strong> <\/strong>window toolbar to add a new variable. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Specify the Variable details:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Name: CComparison <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Label: Compare context to all <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Type: Derived (the variable will derive its data from Q0, the existing location question). <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Response: Multiple (each respondent will fall into two cases). <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   Double click in the first code label and click the <strong>Insert <\/strong>button. This will give the selected location as the code label. Then enter <strong>NOT(Q0=Q0@context)<\/strong> as the <strong>Value<\/strong>. This code will be used when the response does not apply to the specified location. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   In the next <strong>Label <\/strong>field and enter <strong>All sites<\/strong>. This allows you to set the context to a specific value.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Set the <strong>Variable<\/strong> to Q0 (the location) and the <strong>Value<\/strong> to 1.
