<\/a> In Snap XMP Desktop there are two types of survey; online surveys and offline surveys. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Online surveys are surveys that are available in both Snap XMP Desktop and Snap XMP Online. You can organise them in folders, which are available in both applications. The online surveys are kept up to date and the response data synchronized between the two applications. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Offline surveys are surveys that are available in Snap XMP Desktop only. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prerequisites<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your Snap XMP Online account must be set up before you can use online surveys in Snap XMP Desktop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Archiving the offline survey<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\n It is highly recommended that you archive the offline survey prior to moving it.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. In Snap XMP Desktop, highlight the survey you wish to archive in the Survey Overview <\/strong>window. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. \n Click on \n \"ArchiveIcon.png\"\n to access the Archive Survey<\/strong> dialog.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    1. A default file name and path are automatically generated, you can change these by clicking Browse<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. In Options<\/strong>, select Include Raw Data<\/strong> to archive the raw data (.rdf file) as well. (If the raw data option is selected, then the .snpdf file is included in the archive file.) <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. If you have archived the survey on an earlier occasion, you will be asked whether you want to replace it. Click Yes<\/strong> to replace the file. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. A message confirming the survey has been archived is displayed. Click OK<\/strong>. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Creating a folder to help organise the online surveys<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      \n Folders help to organise your online surveys. Creating your folders first allows you to create or transfer your online surveys to the place you want straight away. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      1. \n On the Snap toolbar, click Survey Overview<\/strong> \n \"SurveyOverviewIcon.png\"\n which opens the Survey Overview window.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. On the Survey Overview toolbar, click Online Surveys<\/strong> \"5.OnlineSurveysIcon.png\" to show the online surveys. When you open the online surveys for the first time, you will see one top level folder called Your work<\/strong>. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        1. \n Click on Your work<\/strong> then right click to show a popup menu and click New Folder<\/strong>.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          1. In the New Folder Name dialog, enter a name for the folder. In the example, the new folder name is ‘Demo Surveys’. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            1. \n Click OK<\/strong> and the new folder is shown in the Survey Overview window.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              Browse to the location of the offline survey<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

              1. \n On the Survey Overview toolbar, click Offline Surveys<\/strong> \n \"6.OfflineSurveysIcon.png\"\n to show the offline surveys.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                1. \n If you can\u2019t find the survey you want to move, click Browse<\/strong> to locate your offline survey. When you find the folder containing the survey, select it and click open.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                2. \n In the Survey Overview window, select the offline survey that you want to move.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                  Clone the offline survey as a new online survey<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
                    \n
                  1. \n On the Survey Overview toolbar, click Clone<\/strong> \n \"CloneSurveyIcon.png\"\n to create a copy of the offline survey. This copy is used to move your offline survey to an online survey, leaving the original offline survey untouched.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  2. \n In the Clone Survey dialog, select Online surveys<\/strong> to create the clone as an online survey. Select Also clone the raw data,<\/strong> if you want to transfer the survey with a copy of all the raw response data.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                    1. Click OK<\/strong>. This displays the New Online Survey dialog. In the New Online Survey dialog, you can change the name of the survey and select the folder location for your online survey. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    2. \n Enter the survey name, if required (for example, Crocodile XMP).\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    3. \n Select the folder where your online survey will go (for example, Demo Surveys, the folder created in Step 1).\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                      1. \n Click OK<\/strong>. An information bar is displayed while the survey is cloned. Once complete the Survey Overview window switches to the online survey view with the new survey selected.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                        1. \n You can now delete the offline version in the Offline surveys list.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                          Using the online survey<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
