Static benchmarking is most useful where:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\n    A comparison with published industry figures is required\n  <\/li><li>\n    Summary figures exist but the raw data is not accessible\n  <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"post-3246-_Toc33623811\"><\/a>Using a benchmark or other static figure in a chart or table<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  You can add benchmarks or other static figures to your analyses by adding them to a table. If you want to use a static figure in your charts you can do so by adding it to a table analysis and converting the table to a chart. The example described below describes inserting a benchmark in a chart.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\n  Set up a derived variable which is true for all cases. This provides a place to store the data.\n<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"449\" height=\"396\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/smart-reporting-image-of-5.png\" alt=\"Derived variable for a benchmark\" class=\"wp-image-3247\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/smart-reporting-image-of-5.png 449w, https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/smart-reporting-image-of-5-300x265.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 449px) 100vw, 449px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\"><li>\n  Create a cross-tabulation that uses the derived variable.\n<\/li><li>\n  Double-click the cell you wish to overtype to show the<strong> Override Analysis Value<\/strong> dialog.\n<\/li><li>\n  Select the <strong>Override <\/strong>radio button.\n<\/li><li>\n  Enter the benchmark data in the panel and click <strong>OK<\/strong>.\n<\/li><li>\n  Repeat for any other cells you wish to overtype.\n<\/li><li>\n  Click \n  <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-3248\" alt=\"VariablePropsIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/variablepropsicon-png-1.png\">\n   to display the <strong>Results Definition<\/strong> dialog showing the definition of the table you\u2019ve just edited.\n<\/li><li>\n  In the <strong>Type <\/strong>field, select <strong>Chart<\/strong> rather than <strong>Table<\/strong>.
