This target may align the demographics of the respondents to those in a census or an industry benchmark. For example, you can balance the age of respondents to match the age ranges recorded in the local country&#8217;s census. You can also set the proportions to show an even distribution for each age range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Snap XMP, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/snapxmp\/rim-weighting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RIM weighting<\/a> provides the ability to set target totals for one or more variable so you can achieve, as closely as possible, a target distribution of results across the survey&#8217;s data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Assessing sample proportions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>First, use an analysis table to view the proportions of the survey dataset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click <strong>Analysis Table<\/strong>  <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-2781\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/analysistblicon-png-12.png\" alt=\"AnalysisTblIcon.png\"> to display the Analysis Definition for a table. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In Analysis, enter the variable that you want to balance, for example, age ranges. Make sure Counts is selected as well as Respondents on the Base\/Labels tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Apply <\/strong>to display the table.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"216\" height=\"258\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/TableRaking1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12131\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creating the RIM Weight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, create the RIM weight to change the proportion of each age range. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>Analysis Variables<\/strong>&nbsp;<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/word-image-7827-1.png\">&nbsp;to open the Analysis Variables window.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>New Analysis Variables Item<\/strong>&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"25\" height=\"26\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/word-image-7827-2.png\">&nbsp;, which displays a menu of analysis variable types to choose from.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>New RIM Weight<\/strong> to open the RIM Weight window. When the RIM Weight is created the status shows as Not built.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>Build RIM Weight&nbsp;<\/strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/word-image-7827-11.png\">&nbsp;on the RIM Weight toolbar to build the RIM weight.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Status changes to show Built.
