Browse for the style if it is not visible\n<\/li><li>\n  Add the semantic scale grid variables to the Analysis field. You can add the whole set in the form Q7.a to Q7.c, or you can add individual questions separated by commas.\n<\/li><li>\n  Select Statistics table from the dropdown list in the Break field (or type STATS in the field, in upper or lower case).\n<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"494\" height=\"207\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/semanticscale7-png.png\" alt=\"Analysis Definition for a chart showing the statistics for a semantic scale question\" class=\"wp-image-2750\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"5\"><li>\n  Click the Descriptive Statistics tab. \n<\/li><li>\n  Show only the Mean in the Used pane. \n<\/li><li>\n  Click OK to build the chart.\n<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  The result is a bar chart showing the mean values of the responses recorded for each of the variables.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"506\" height=\"352\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/semanticscale8-png.png\" alt=\"Chart showing mean values for a semantic scale question\" class=\"wp-image-2751\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"post-2747-_Toc35499213\"><\/a>Editing the style of your semantic scale chart<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  If you have created a semantic scale chart using the Horizontal Bar Counts style, you will need to make some adjustments to it to make it appropriate for a semantic scale chart.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  You will need to set the axis to have the same values as your semantic scale, and improve the label display\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\n  Click anywhere along the bottom axis to open the appropriate section of the chart designer.\n<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"506\" height=\"118\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/semanticscale9-png.png\" alt=\"Chart showing mean values for a semantic scale question\" class=\"wp-image-2752\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\"><li>\n  The chart designer window opens with the Y-axis highlighted.\n<\/li><li>\n  Clear the Automatic scale box.\n<\/li><li>\n  Set the Minimum value of the scale to 1.\n<\/li><li>\n  Set the Maximum value of the scale to the number of codes in your semantic scale (5 in this example).\n<\/li><li>\n  Set the value of the Major divisions to the number of codes in your semantic scale (5 in this example).\n<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"559\" height=\"304\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/semanticscale10-png.png\" alt=\"Chart Designer dialog\" class=\"wp-image-2753\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"7\"><li>\n  Click OK to apply the changes to your chart and close the chart designer.\n<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"483\" height=\"327\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/semanticscale11-png.png\" alt=\"Chart showing mean values for a semantic scale question\" class=\"wp-image-2754\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"8\"><li>\n  Save your style changes to use again by right-clicking the chart and selecting Save style and choosing a name and a folder for your new style.\n<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"post-2747-_Toc35499214\"><\/a>Creating a break-down chart of your semantic scale question <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  This example shows how to produce a chart of the means of a grid of semantic scale questions broken down by gender. It assumes that you have created a semantic chart style as described in Editing the style of your semantic scale chart.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\n  Click \n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-2755\" alt=\"AnalysisChartIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/analysischarticon-png-6.png\">\n   to display the Analysis Definition dialog box for a chart.\n<\/li><li>\n  Set the style to Horizontal Bar Counts Transposed.\n<\/li><li>\n  Add the semantic scale grid variables to the Analysis field.
