Enter the satisfaction variable (Q7) in the field for the variable for which the mean is calculated.\n    <\/li>\n  <\/ul>\n<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"308\" height=\"144\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/mapcontrol2-1-png.png\" alt=\"Analysis definition for a map control\" class=\"wp-image-2703\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  (If you wished to score the mean, you would enter the score in the field after the variable name, e.g. q6.a score5).\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\"><li>   Click<strong> OK <\/strong>to save the table. Keep the window open for reference while creating your Map. <\/li><li>   Select the table in the <strong>Analyses<\/strong> dialog and click    <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"25\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-2704\" alt=\"CloneSurveyIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/clonesurveyicon-png-2.png\">    on the toolbar to duplicate the analysis. <\/li><li>   Select Map in the <strong>Type <\/strong>list. <\/li><li>Select the saved style file from the dropdown list of styles.<\/li><li>Double-click the Map window to open the Map Control Editor.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"465\" height=\"334\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/im-scotland-selected-in-uk-satisfaction-map.png\" alt=\"Scotland selected in UK satisfaction map\" class=\"wp-image-2705\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"7\"><li>\n  Click on each area in turn and confirm that the code assignment displayed at the bottom of the window is correct\n<\/li><li>\n  If the codes have not been pre-defined, select each area in turn and select <strong>Shape|Assign to code. <\/strong>Select the appropriate code for the figure. (You can also right-click the shape and assign codes from the context menu.)\n<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"post-2701-_Toc35499185\"><\/a>Assigning colors to your areas and displaying a legend<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\n  Click \n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"23\" height=\"22\" class=\"wp-image-2706\" alt=\"IM: Fill button\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/im-fill-button-1.gif\">\n  to open the Map Control Editor <strong>Fill series<\/strong> dialog. \n<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"474\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/mapcontrol2-2-png.png\" alt=\"Set the shading for the map control\" class=\"wp-image-2707\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\"><li>\n  Select <strong>HSL <\/strong>as the color model. This means that intermediate colors will be calculated using a traffic light scheme.\n<\/li><li>\n  Select <strong>Stepped <\/strong>as the <strong>Data Mode<\/strong>. This means that only the colors listed will be seen.\n<\/li><li>\n  Click the \n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"25\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-2708\" alt=\"NewSurveyIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/newsurveyicon-png-1.png\">\n   button twice to add two new data points. There will now be four satisfaction levels displayed. From the table, you know that the maximum satisfaction level is nine and the minimum is three. The extra two data points will be equidistant between the maximum and minimum (5 and 7). Because the <strong>Data Mode<\/strong> is <strong>Stepped<\/strong>, the areas will be colored according to the nearest data point value, e.g, 4.3 will be classified as 5. \n<\/li><li>\n  Select <strong>Legend <\/strong>in the left-hand pane.\n<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"474\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/mapcontrol2-3-png.png\" alt=\"Set the location of the labels in a map control\" class=\"wp-image-2709\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"6\"><li>\n  Check the <strong>Visible <\/strong>box to display the Legend, and select one of the radio buttons to position it.\n<\/li><li>\n  Click the <strong>Labels <\/strong>tab.\n<\/li><li>\n  You will have the same number of labels fields as colors in the <strong>Shading <\/strong>window. By default the text for each is the value it represents. Add some text to identify what the Map is displaying.\n<\/li><li>\n  Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.\n<\/li><li>\n  When you have finished defining the Map, select <strong>File|Save map control <\/strong>and save your Map as a new .isf file.
