You can choose whether this is:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\n    the count (number of respondents who chose that response)\n  <\/li><li>\n    the percentage (number of respondents as a percentage of the total)\n  <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  If you want to display both the counts and the percentage value, you need to pass in the counts and use the <strong>Chart Designer<\/strong> to calculate the percentages from the counts. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  To ensure that the chart designer uses the number of respondents as its value for 100%, you must pass in a variable or variable code containing that value. This is done by creating a derived variable which has a code that is true for all respondents. This code then has a count value of the number of respondents.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  You can then exclude this code from the final bar chart. You can only exclude codes from terms in the <strong>Analysis <\/strong>field that have not been transposed. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\n  Click \n  <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-2634\" alt=\"VariablesIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/variablesicon-png-1.png\">\n   on the Snap toolbar to open the <strong>Variables <\/strong>window.\n<\/li><li>\n  Select the variable you wish to chart. Here we are using <strong>Q2<\/strong>.\n<\/li><li>\n  Click \n  <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"25\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-2635\" alt=\"CloneSurveyIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/clonesurveyicon-png.png\">\n   on the <strong>Variables <\/strong>window toolbar to create a copy of the variable. \n<\/li><li>\n  Set the <strong>Type <\/strong>to <strong>Derived<\/strong>. (The values in this variable are derived from the answers to <strong>Q2<\/strong>.)\n<\/li><li>\n  Set the <strong>Name <\/strong>to <strong>V2Q2 <\/strong>to remind you that it is derived from <strong>Q2<\/strong>.\n<\/li><li>\n  Set the <strong>Response<\/strong> to <strong>Multiple<\/strong>, so that you can have more than one code selected.\n<\/li><li>\n  Select to the <strong>Values <\/strong>column for the first code <strong>Daily<\/strong> and enter <strong>Q2=1<\/strong>\n<\/li><li>\n  Repeat for the other codes in <strong>Q2<\/strong>.\n<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"527\" height=\"449\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/displaycountspercents1-png.png\" alt=\"Derived variable to count the number of respondents\" class=\"wp-image-2636\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"9\"><li>\n  Create an additional code and name it <strong>Hidden total<\/strong>. Set the value to <strong>TRUE<\/strong>.\n<\/li><li>\n  Click \n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"20\" height=\"17\" class=\"wp-image-2637\" alt=\"1 2 3  button\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/1-2-3-button.png\">\n  on the <strong>Variables <\/strong>window toolbar to check the number of responses for the parts of your new variable. \n<\/li><li>\n  You will get a message warning you that this will cause any changes to be kept. Click <strong>OK<\/strong>. The counts are displayed. The count for <strong>Hidden total<\/strong> should be the same as the base value in your table.\n<\/li><li>\n  Click \n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-2638\" alt=\"SaveIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/saveicon-png-3.png\">\n   to save your variable.\n<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Create the chart <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\n  Click \n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-2639\" alt=\"AnalysisChartIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/analysischarticon-png-4.png\">\n   on the <strong>Snap toolbar<\/strong> to create a chart.\n<\/li><li>\n  Set the style to <strong>Horizontal Bar Counts <\/strong>and set the analysis to <strong>V2Q2<\/strong>.\n<\/li><li>\n  Check <strong>Counts<\/strong>.\n<\/li><li>\n  Click <strong>Apply<\/strong> to display your chart.\n<\/li><li>\n  Double click on the <strong>Hidden total<\/strong> bar to open the <strong>Chart Designer<\/strong> and check the <strong>Exclude series<\/strong> box to stop the display of that bar.\n<\/li><li>\n  In this type of chart, each of the bar heights is a datapoint in a series. In the left hand pane, double-click <strong>Series <\/strong>to open it, then <strong>Daily <\/strong>then select <strong>Datapoint Labels defaults<\/strong>.\n<\/li><li>\n  Select the <strong>Above Point <\/strong>radio button as the <strong>Text Location<\/strong> in the <strong>Appearance<\/strong> tab. This specifies where the counts and percentage figures will be placed.\n<\/li><li>\n  Check <strong>Value <\/strong>and <strong>Percent <\/strong>under the <strong>Datapoint Label<\/strong>. This will display the counts and percentage figures at the end of the bar.\n<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"567\" height=\"304\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/displaycountspercents2-png.png\" alt=\"Chart designer showing the label appearance\" class=\"wp-image-2640\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"9\"><li>\n  Repeat for the other series that you wish to display (<strong>Twice a week<\/strong>, <strong>Weekly<\/strong> and <strong>Monthly<\/strong>).\n<\/li><li>\n  Click<strong> Apply<\/strong> to display the new version of the chart.\n<\/li><li>\n  The percentage values are not correct as they have not been calculated using the <strong>Hidden total<\/strong> value. Select <strong>Y Axis<\/strong> in the left hand pane of the <strong>Chart Designer<\/strong> dialog. \n<\/li><li>\n  Select the <strong>Scale Type<\/strong> tab and select the <strong>Percent <\/strong>radio button.\n<\/li><li>\n  Select <strong>Category Maximum<\/strong> as the <strong>Percent <\/strong>base. This uses the highest count as the number to calculate the percentages from.
