To make it obvious which the reference values are, they will be displayed as bars, whereas the individual means for men and women will be displayed as points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n  These instructions assume that you have created a derived variable that includes all respondents.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"496\" height=\"389\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/allrespondentsvar-png.png\" alt=\"Derived variable to count the number of respondents\" class=\"wp-image-2619\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\n  Click \n  <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-2620\" alt=\"AnalysisChartIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/analysischarticon-png-3.png\">\n   to open the <strong>Analysis Definition<\/strong> dialog.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Change the Chart style to <strong>Bar counts.<\/strong>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Set the <strong>Analysis <\/strong>field to <strong>Q6a~Q6e<\/strong>. This includes all the satisfaction questions (you can check what they are in the open Variables window).\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Set the <strong>Break <\/strong>field to <strong>V1: Q10<\/strong>. (V1 is your newly created derived variable, Q10 is the gender question.)\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Set the <strong>Calculate <\/strong>field to <strong>Means &amp; Differences<\/strong>.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Check the <strong>Transpose <\/strong>box under <strong>Options<\/strong>.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"492\" height=\"209\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/combchart1-png.png\" alt=\"Analysis definition for a bar chart\" class=\"wp-image-2621\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"7\">\n<li>\n  Click <strong>OK<\/strong>. The chart window opens, displaying the defined bar chart.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"484\" height=\"397\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/combchart2-png.png\" alt=\"Bar chart showing the mean results by gender compared to all respondents\" class=\"wp-image-2622\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"8\">\n<li>   Open the chart designer by clicking    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-2623\" alt=\"StyleModeIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/stylemodeicon-png-5.png\">    on the chart toolbar. The chart designer dialog appears. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   Highlight <strong>Chart <\/strong>in the left-hand pane if it not already selected. This is the section of the chart designer that defines the overall look of the chart. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   Ensure that the <strong>2D <\/strong>radio button is selected and click <strong>Combination <\/strong>in the list of chart types. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   Click <strong>Apply<\/strong> to use these settings without closing the chart designer window. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Series <\/strong>in the left-hand pane. This is the section of the chart designer dialog that deals with the display of the break and analysis data. This is where you specify that in the combination chart, you wish to display the All Respondents information as bars, and the data split by gender as lines.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click <strong>All Respondents <\/strong>in the <strong>Series <\/strong>box and check that <strong>Bar <\/strong>is selected in the <strong>Display As<\/strong> box.   <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Male <\/strong>in the <strong>Series <\/strong>box and select <strong>Line <\/strong>in the <strong>Display As<\/strong> box, and repeat for <strong>Female<\/strong>.   <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Apply<\/strong> to use these settings without closing the chart designer window.   <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The visible chart should change to show a combination bar and line chart.   <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"567\" height=\"304\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/combchart3-png.png\" alt=\"Chart designer showing the series type for all respondents\" class=\"wp-image-2624\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"471\" height=\"380\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/combchart4-png.png\" alt=\"Combination chart showing points and bars\" class=\"wp-image-2625\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"13\">\n<li>   The bars are in front of the lines, making it difficult to see them. Select <strong>Series <\/strong>in the left-hand pan again, and click the <strong>Order <\/strong>tab. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   Select <strong>All <\/strong>in the list and click the<strong> Down<\/strong> button twice to move it to behind the Male and Female displays. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>   Click <strong>Apply<\/strong>. The chart updates to place the lines in front of the bars. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Set the data point markers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now you have created a combination chart, you want to mark the points that represent the data values for men and women, instead of just having them as points where the lines angle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\n  Click the \n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"9\" height=\"9\" class=\"wp-image-2626\" alt=\"Expand branch square icon\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/expand-branch-square-icon.gif\">\n   by <strong>Series <\/strong>in the left-hand pane to show the list of the variable codes in the Break. \n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  Click the \n  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"9\" height=\"9\" class=\"wp-image-2627\" alt=\"Expand branch square icon\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/expand-branch-square-icon-1.gif\">\n   by <strong>Male<\/strong> or <strong>Female <\/strong>to show the list of controls for displaying the information for the selected data. Select <strong>Datapoint Defaults<\/strong>. This is where you specify how the datapoints will be displayed.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"362\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/combchart5-png.png\" alt=\"Set the markers for the points of a combination chart\" class=\"wp-image-2628\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\">\n<li>Click the <strong>Markers <\/strong>tab to define the markers. (You can specify the line colour in the <strong>Fill <\/strong>tab.)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>     Check the<strong> Show markers<\/strong> box.   <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>     Set the <strong>Style <\/strong>as required.
