This can be\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Questionnaire<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interview<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prompted<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the chosen mode in <strong>Data Entry Tailoring<\/strong> as the default setting for the survey so that each time the <strong>Data Entry<\/strong> window is opened it appears in this mode. You can also choose other settings for the data entry.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Testing the questionnaire<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before keying in a survey\u2019s response data, you should test the questionnaire to ensure that no errors have been made in the setting up process. This involves entering one or more test cases into the questionnaire to check the questions and survey logic such as routing and validation. The test data is not stored and does not affect the survey analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are some tests to perform:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Test the routing of the questionnaire to make sure that the correct questions are displayed according to the responses given.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Test the question response settings for every question, such as checking that a multiple response question accepts more than one answer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check that the codes are in the right order for single-response, multi-response and grid questions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Testing in different data entry modes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-1947\" alt=\"DataEntryIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/dataentryicon-png-3.png\"> to display the Data window for the current survey.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the Data Entry Tailoring to the options you require.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click one of the mode buttons <strong>Questionnaire<\/strong> <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-1948\" alt=\"QuestModeIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/questmodeicon-png-1.png\"> , <strong>Interview<\/strong> <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-1949\" alt=\"InterviewModeIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/interviewmodeicon-png-2.png\"> or <strong>Prompted<\/strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"27\" class=\"wp-image-1950\" alt=\"PromptedModeIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/promptedmodeicon-png-1.png\"> to display the data in the required mode.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If there is no data entered then a test case will automatically appear, otherwise click <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-1951\" alt=\"NewTestCaseIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/newtestcaseicon-png-1.png\"> to create a new test case. The cursor will move to the first question.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The questionnaire can be checked by entering a value for each question and pressing <strong>Enter<\/strong> to move to the next question. Press <strong>OK<\/strong> to enter the data for that question again.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At the end of the questionnaire, you will be informed that you have finished entering a test case. The data entered will not be saved.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preparing to enter replies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When entering case data from paper questionnaires, it is a good idea to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Number each paper questionnaire to correspond with the case number shown on the screen, giving an easy cross-reference should editing or verification be required. If you are keying data on more than one PC you might want to add a letter to identify to which set of cases the questionnaires belong.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Produce some tables after entering about 20 cases to check that data is being entered correctly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enter the replies from the paper questionnaire<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Data is stored as each completed case is entered so in the event of power failure only the case currently being entered would be lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-1957\" alt=\"DataEntryIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/dataentryicon-png-4.png\"> to display the Data window for the current survey.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the Data Entry Tailoring to the options you require.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click one of the mode buttons <strong>Questionnaire<\/strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-1958\" alt=\"QuestModeIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/questmodeicon-png-2.png\"> , <strong>Interview<\/strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-1959\" alt=\"InterviewModeIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/interviewmodeicon-png-3.png\"> or <strong>Prompted<\/strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"26\" height=\"27\" class=\"wp-image-1960\" alt=\"PromptedModeIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/promptedmodeicon-png-2.png\"> to display the data in the required mode, if it is not automatically selected.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"25\" height=\"26\" class=\"wp-image-1961\" alt=\"NewSurveyIcon.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/newsurveyicon-png-14.png\"> to enter a new data case and the case number will be incremented by one. The first question will be highlighted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Type in a valid value code number for a single choice or multiple-choice question or a valid value for an open-ended literal, quantity, date or time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you do move automatically to the next question, click <strong>Enter<\/strong>. In Interview Mode you may click <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"17\" height=\"17\" class=\"wp-image-1962\" alt=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/help\/1920.gif\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/https-www-snapsurveys-com-help-1920-gif-1.gif\"> instead of <strong>Enter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"445\" height=\"148\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/dataentryinterviewnavigate-png-1.png\" alt=\"Data Entry showing the navigation bar used to progress through the questions\" class=\"wp-image-1963\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/dataentryinterviewnavigate-png-1.png 445w, https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/dataentryinterviewnavigate-png-1-300x100.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 445px) 100vw, 445px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"7\">\n<li>At the end of the questionnaire, you will be presented with the options to Continue, Modify, Cancel or End.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Continue will save the current case and move straight on to the next new case.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Modify will allow modifications to be made to the current case.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cancel will cause the current case to be abandoned without saving the changes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>End will save the current case and halt data entry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Useful tips<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you are unsure of the available codes in prompted mode, press the <strong>F5<\/strong> key or double click in the reply field and a full list of codes will be displayed for the current question.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If text substitution has been used in the setting up of the questionnaire, its effects will be shown in the data entry screen, such as, question text changes depending on previous answers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To check or make changes to previous questions in Interview mode:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"17\" height=\"17\" class=\"wp-image-1964\" alt=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/help\/1921.gif\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/https-www-snapsurveys-com-help-1921-gif-1.gif\"> to move to the previous question or note.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"17\" height=\"17\" class=\"wp-image-1965\" alt=\"Scroll down arrow\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snapxmp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/scroll-down-arrow-3.png\"> to move to a specific question or note.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can use the up and down keys to move around the questionnaire or use the mouse to click on the scroll bars on the right hand side of the screen in Questionnaire Mode or Prompted Mode.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pressing <strong>Esc<\/strong> at any point during data entry will cause the Continue \/ Modify \/ Cancel \/ End dialog box to be displayed.
